SimCity: Societies

This is my first SimCity game, and from what I have heard this is a lot different than the regular SimCity games so this review won’t be comparing the old ones to this one. I am actually a fan of “building” games where I can build out my own city, add different things to improve it, or get rid of old things, and sit back and watch my city improve. This game does just that, but its basic concepts make the game rather boring after you have played it multiple times.

Like any SimCity game, this game has tons of features, but my favorite has to be the what I call “city type function” which is basically, depending on what type of city you are building which is based on the buildings your city changes and becomes that type of city. For example if you are building a authoritarian type city, then after your city gets a certain amount of authority then the city changes. The roads change, the buildings change, the statues become statues of dictators, and this feature is one of the sole reasons I keep playing this game.

There is no “goal” to this game, except to build your city the way you want it. Unfortunately the game is very buggy and it tends to randomly crash when I put a certain building down. Other than the bugs, this game is pretty good, you are the master of the city, you must keep your sims happy, give them jobs, homes, power their homes and offices, create places where they can relax, eat, and more. Whether you pick a rural town or “cyberpunk” city the possibilities are endless, and that’s what makes this game good.

8.1/10
