Loading ...Frets on Fire is actually a game that is not known by many. Simply put, Frets on Fire is an Open Source version of Guitar Hero, while it doesn’t have as many features the concept is the same. You try and hit notes that come down in different lengths by pressing the Enter button (which is the equivalent of strumming) and simultaneously pressing either F1-F5 on your keyboard.
To make it seem like a guitar you are actually supposed to hold the keyboard backwards so it actually seems like you are playing a guitar like in the picture to the right. If you don’t like the way the buttons look, no problem, there are tons of mods (remember it is open source) that you can use to make it suite your needs, and make it even look like Guitar Hero. If you don’t like any of the three songs it comes with, no worries, you can make your own song, or import one of the many finely crafted songs by other Frets on Fire users. The best part about it, is it’s free. If you want to see what it looks like before you download it, here is a little video I made on Vivaldi’s Winter. Unfortunately the video’s FPS is a bit bad so the video might not seem to smooth, but the real thing is very smooth.
